<p align="justify">A large majority of the human body is made up of water. Second to water is <em>protein</em>. All living things on this planet, from large to microscopic, have protein. Protein is made from chains of amino acids called peptide bonds. These amino acids are considered the “building blocks” that make up protein. Protein contains 16% nitrogen which chemically makes amino acids different than sugars and fatty acids.</p>
<p align="justify">Sugar and fatty acids do not contain nitrogen. Protein makes up muscles, ligaments, organs, tendons, hair, glands, nails, vital body fluids, and more. Protein is also very essential for the growth of bones. Protein also helps to regulate your body’s water balance as well as maintain proper internal pH.</p>
<p align="justify"><strong>Amino acids</strong> also act as neurotransmitters. A neurotransmitter carries information from one cell to another and is necessary for maintain healthy brain activity. Neurotransmitters can pass through the blood/brain barrier to better send messages from the brain to other parts of the body. Capillaries in the brain are tightly packed together more than any other part on the body. This is to prevent from and toxins or foreign substances from entering the brain tissue. Only amino acids are allowed to pass through this barrier. As you can see, amino acids and protein are much more important than many people realize. It is very important to avoid a protein deficiency because it will lead to many problems. It looks like amino acids are the second most important chemical makeup in the human body.</p>
<p align="justify">When nutrients and minerals enter the body they cannot be absorbed without the correct amino acids present. Amino acids help vitamins and mineral perform their job properly. You can visualize amino acids working well with nutrients and minerals to help better absorb them into the body. Only 28 different types of amino acids produce hundreds of combinations of proteins that are present in all living things. The liver is the main producer of amino acids. The liver produces 80% of the amino acids in the human body. The other 20% is derived from proper diet. This 20% is considered the <strong>essential amino acids.</strong></p>
<p align="justify">Essential amino acids must enter the body through forms of food to help balance out the amino acids our body already produces. There are nine essential amino acids we need. If even one of these essential amino acids is missing then the body cannot continue proper protein synthesis. Problems like this range from indigestion to depression to stunted growth. Even if you eat well-balance meals high in protein this could still cause a problem.</p>

<p align="justify">There are a number of factors that can easily affect the availability of essential amino acids in the body. For example, drug use, stress, trauma, age, and the imbalance of nutrients could cause these essential amino acids to disappear. When these are not present with the other amino acids it will pose a harsh threat to your body. An improper diet, failing to meet required amounts of essential amino acids, will lead to a physical disorder. It is pretty crazy to think that even the smallest of things can throw the chemical balance in your body off. This does not mean to go out and eat high amounts of protein! Excess proteins will put the liver in a state of stress causing it to not work properly. Too much protein will cause the liver to produce ammonia. Ammonia is toxic to the body and therefore must be excreted out through the kidneys. This is why it is important to get the right amount of protein in your diet.</p>

When looking for amino acid supplements make sure to look for products that contain USP (U.S. Pharmacopoeia) pharmaceutical-grade L-crystalline amino acids. This may sound confusing but really is not.</p>

You may actually be getting the right amount of proteins on a daily basis without even realizing it. It is very hard to avoid eating anything with high fructose corn syrup because it seems to be in all foods.</p>
<p align="justify">There are foods and drinks out there that are ‘all-natural’ but do not let this fool you. The word ‘natural’ is not regulated very well by the FDA and a lot of companies use this as a form of smart marketing. Take a look at any all-natural product and note the high fructose corn syrup in the ingredients. If you want to avoid high fructose corn syrup then you need to find products that are ‘all-organic’. 100% all-organic products are regulated by the FDA with stricter guidelines and will contain no high fructose corn syrup. If you eat a lot of the foods mentioned above you need to begin consuming less of them. High fructose corn syrup has consumer benefits but actually causes more harm than good.</p>

Even though a product may look and smell delicious, it most likely contains more than your daily allowance of high fructose corn syrup. Try to avoid this sweetener all together, but if you cannot, then cut back on it by at least half.</p>

Everybody always says to take a bunch of vitamin C when you are sick because it is the best thing to take.</p>
<p align="justify">The biggest bottle of vitamins I have on hand would be my vitamin C tablets. I get sick much less than most people I know because I constantly wash my hands. If I feel even the slightest sickest start to form than I take the recommended amount of vitamin C tablets to help fight off the cold. I also drink green tea which is full an antioxidants to help battle the cold even more. The main reason to wash your hands more frequently is to prevent germs from entering your body. Most germs enter your body through your hands because you are always touching something. You could easily get sick just from shaking a hand.</p>
<p align="justify">The number one spot for contracting the most germs is at a gas pump. So many people have different illnesses, all which are touching the same gas pump handle that you just picked up. The second spot for contacting the most germs is at your local grocery store or any store that has shopping carts. There are more and more stores that are adding hand and shopping cart sanitation stations throughout their store. This makes shopping much more delightful for me knowing I will not contract any germs. I also have a bottle of hand sanitizer in my car for any situation. Taking vitamin C will help your immune system stay strong but taking too much can have some interesting consequences.</p>
<p align="justify">Humans cannot produce vitamin C on their own which is why many choose to get it elsewhere. A lot of fruits, especially oranges, have vitamin C in them. The average orange has about 70mg of vitamin C. Most men require about 90mg of vitamin C daily while women need around 75mg. These values are on the low end while about 2000mg of vitamin C would be on the high end. You can also get vitamin C from your favorite brand of orange juice. Different orange juices vary the amount of vitamin C in them because as we all know, a lot of products like to process their product and strip some important nutrients out.</p>
<p align="justify">You can easily see how much vitamin C is in your orange juice by looking at the nutrition label. Vitamin C tablets on average have about 500mg of vitamin C in them. According to the bottle I have that is about 833% of my daily value. This seems like quite a bit which is why it is important to not overdose on vitamin C. Taking too much vitamin C, over 2000mg a day, will cause abdominal cramps, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headaches, insomnia, and a few more. Having a vitamin C deficiency can cause scurvy, which leads to skin spots, spongy gums, and bleeding from mucous membranes.</p>

<p>The idea of eating chemicals that kill insects makes me feel ill. Most people do not know where there food comes from just as long as it looks and tastes good. We seem to be much less concerned about what is in our food, just as long as it is on sale. The exposure of pesticides we are exposed to is pretty low but taken on a daily basis adds up quick. There is a constant increase in pesticide contamination from imported foods. This could be because there are too many pesticides out there.</p>
<p>In 2006 there were over 9,700 different pesticides that were allowed by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. This seems mind boggling because of how many different chemicals are used to spray on the foods we eat. I believe there is no possible way that even half of these, if not more, are close to being safe for us to ingest.</p>

The idea here doesn’t necessarily mean eating everything all organic but rather getting more all organic foods in your body. Organic food is grown in a controlled setting free of bugs and chemicals. These products are grown the natural way with sunlight, dirt, and water.</p>
<p>People die every day from tragic mishaps, smoking, old age, etc., but what about those dying from eating an apple with too much pesticide on it? The idea of eating chemical enriched foods may make you think the next time you are in the store looking at the produce.</p>
